There are two popular programs that would considered a no cosigner student loan. They are both federal loan programs and you are able to get these loans regardless of your current credit rating or your credit history. Since lots of people have bad credit this is one of the best options out their for them.

The Federal Stafford loan and the Federal Perkins loan are the two loan programs that the government offers. Both of these loans are similar in nature, but do have some things that are different about them. The Stafford loan is more commonly used than the Perkins loan program.

Some people call this the perfect student loans without cosigner program because everyone is eligible. The first thin you have to do is fill out the online FAFSA and everything else will fall into place. You will receive a letter in the mail telling you what federal aid you qualify for. You will receive different amounts depending on what your current grade level is and how expensive the school you are going to is.

There is a max dollar limit allowed to be taken out under this loan program each year and after you have reached that max then you will have to find private student loans to cover the rest of your schooling. The cost to attend most public universities and colleges can be covered by the federal Stafford loans though.

There is one thing that will not allow you to get student loans without cosigner and that is if you have defaulted on a federal loan in the past. If that is the case they you will automatically not allowed to take out any more loans. This makes sense as they already gave you a chance and you failed to pay them back.
