Well you’re in it because you allowed yourself to be in it. It has always been said that try to reduce and manage your credit card debt - eliminate it, if possible, before it assumes a worrisome shape, that is, before it controls you, stress you, nag you, and humiliate you. And how do we go about reducing our credit card debt? Simple, prevent it from increasing and pay what’s in it as soon as possible.
But then a lot of us just take our debts for granted. The debts problem has just gotten worse. Pundits say that after the subprime – credit cards debts will hit everyone and all in a few months to a year. That’s even before we have recovered from the current financial crisis. It can be said that credit card debt problem has gotten worse than it already is. So, before you reach bankruptcy levels, do something about it.
So, how do we reduce our debts?
1. By balance transfers. This can help trim down credit card debt by slowing down the rate at which your credit card debt is rising by providing you with relief in terms of APR. Transfer your balance from your current credit cards onto another credit card that has a lower APR than your current card, some credit card providers offer 0% APR for a period of 3 to 6 months. This way you will get a relief from those horrendous APR.
2. Use cash as an alternative to credit card for the reason that hard earned cash is difficult to get out of your pocket and therefore difficult to spend (than the use of a credit card). This way you will spend less, and save more.
3. Calculate the charges, late fees, and APR you are paying to your credit card provider/s so that you will realize how much money you are giving away to them. This way you will be motivated (and upset, or angry) enough to pay your credit card debts, as soon, and as fast as you can.
Try these three methods, and I am certain you will be debt free in no time. Good Luck.
